Megaten Minecraft Project: Update 1

If you haven’t heard, or are completely oblivious to anything Minecraft related, UnluckyOrpheus and Kuen took it upon themselves with a few others to construct a 1:1 scale replica of Babel in the world of Minecraft. Luckily for me, I’m blessed with having great friends like mirrorenn who gave me his Minecraft account because he never uses it. It just goes to show that there are actually some great people that you can meet in this world~

So now armed with a ‘premium’ account, I decided to embark on the server to see what this was really all about. Simply put, these guys have done an amazing fucking job copying Babel down to the tiny details. If you haven’t already seen the screenshots then go here.

Awed at the wondrous world that was being created, I decided to pitch in and dragged Orpheus online at 2am to build the Cathedral. After laying out the foundation of it, he decided to ‘make it more realistic’ which translated to: destroy the entire fucking floor we just built, dig 6 blocks down, and dig out this 18×17 area so it can be more realistic. Needless to say, I didn’t have the attention span no the ability to stay awake that long, but we ended the night completing that.

10 hours later when I woke up, I waited 2 hours because some overslept because he just had to finish the damn cathedral, and we began to work on other projects around the city. By the end of the day, we had completed putting up an entire wall around the city, completing both the armor and weapon shops, albeit without any furnishings or light, and started adding the fancy features one might expect a stickler to add when recreating a world.

So here it is, the product of our work: (Note: The cathedral will be recolored with Obsidian and the demon areas were recolored with Glowstone after the screenshot, I’m just too lazy to go take a new one.)

So by just the two of us, we were able to accomplish a great task in the matter of just 24 hours. Does this mean we want to do that for everything? Fuck no.

If you’d like to help us in our project of recreating the whole Megaten world, then we’d be happy to have you come aboard. (You even get your own complimentary Babel Apartment.) So if you’d like to help, or even just come for a visit to see how it’s going, you can find the server information here.  We’d love to have you join our little world that we call home.

Myths about us fellow introverts

Myth #1 – Introverts don’t like to talk.

This is not true. Introverts just don’t talk unless they have something to say. They hate small talk. Get an introvert talking about something they are interested in, and they won’t shut up for days.

Myth #2 – Introverts are shy.

Shyness has nothing to do with being an Introvert. Introverts are not necessarily afraid of people. What they need is a reason to interact. They don’t interact for the sake of interacting. If you want to talk to an Introvert, just start talking. Don’t worry about being polite.

Myth #3 – Introverts are rude.

Introverts often don’t see a reason for beating around the bush with social pleasantries. They want everyone to just be real and honest. Unfortunately, this is not acceptable in most settings, so Introverts can feel a lot of pressure to fit in, which they find exhausting.

Myth #4 – Introverts don’t like people.

On the contrary, Introverts intensely value the few friends they have. They can count their close friends on one hand. If you are lucky enough for an introvert to consider you a friend, you probably have a loyal ally for life. Once you have earned their respect as being a person of substance, you’re in.

Myth #5 – Introverts don’t like to go out in public.

Nonsense. Introverts just don’t like to go out in public FOR AS LONG. They also like to avoid the complications that are involved in public activities. They take in data and experiences very quickly, and as a result, don’t need to be there for long to “get it.” They’re ready to go home, recharge, and process it all. In fact, recharging is absolutely crucial for Introverts.

Myth #6 – Introverts always want to be alone.

Introverts are perfectly comfortable with their own thoughts. They think a lot. They daydream. They like to have problems to work on, puzzles to solve. But they can also get incredibly lonely if they don’t have anyone to share their discoveries with. They crave an authentic and sincere connection with ONE PERSON at a time.

Myth #7 – Introverts are weird.

Introverts are often individualists. They don’t follow the crowd. They’d prefer to be valued for their novel ways of living. They think for themselves and because of that, they often challenge the norm. They don’t make most decisions based on what is popular or trendy.

Myth #8 – Introverts are aloof nerds.

Introverts are people who primarily look inward, paying close attention to their thoughts and emotions. It’s not that they are incapable of paying attention to what is going on around them, it’s just that their inner world is much more stimulating and rewarding to them.

Myth #9 – Introverts don’t know how to relax and have fun.

Introverts typically relax at home or in nature, not in busy public places. Introverts are not thrill seekers and adrenaline junkies. If there is too much talking and noise going on, they shut down. Their brains are too sensitive to the neurotransmitter called Dopamine. Introverts and Extroverts have different dominant neuro-pathways. Just look it up.

Myth #10 – Introverts can fix themselves and become Extroverts.

Introverts cannot “fix themselves” and deserve respect for their natural temperament and contributions to the human race. In fact, one study (Silverman, 1986) showed that the percentage of Introverts increases with IQ.

Yep

Mem

Congratulations Mem, you’ve made it into the world of a GameSage. May there be many days and nights spent helping the misfortune and those who are unintelligent. You have many people backing you up, and the support of your yaoi fans.

Good luck in your endeavors.

Who Will Be The New GS!?

Vote now to see who you want to be the next AP hoarding representative of AGE.

The Real Deal Application Feedback

After months and months of losing valuable GameSages (Zethre etc), the GMs have finally decided to open up applications to new GameSages.

Since we all know that real feedback and criticism isn’t accepted on the forums (i.e. past feedback threads getting locked and or posted deleted), I have decided to open this up as a true feedback thread on the applicants.

So post away, let it all out, because we all know that there are some idiots who are applying.

My Accomplishment

After being unblocked from Megaten I have sought out to complete one goal, and one goal only: to sell everything I have and buy AP Cards for future use in Eden Eternal/Lime Odyssey. I am happy to say that as of today, I have completed a milestone in this endeavor.

And now that that is done, there’s just a few things left to do: sell or give away everything else and wait for Eden and Lime. In the meantime I’ll be playing Forsaken World with friends as we wait for those games~

/NAme

Special thanks to Eri.Donnal for selling me most of the cards. A lovely person. ❤

Education: A Privilege [Part 2]

Dear Fayth4gotten,

This is a notice of a suspension of service to the Fayth4gotten account assigned to this e-mail address.
Service has been suspended from this account for: ‘harassment’.

In accordance with our Terms of Service we have placed a ‘permanent’ suspension to service on the account starting on 2011-03-27 07:41. If you wish to discuss this ban further please use the contact us form located at http://www.aeriagames.com/contact/ban to receive a request ticket.

— Admin Team

—–Additional Information—–

Account suspended for harassment; it will remain blocked until the inappropriate signature is removed.

So Beni got banned. For what? Harassment. Yep, harassment for a signature that contains no foul words, sexual puns, or anything that would typically get a player banned. Instead, it is a reference to Kurt Vonneguts ‘autobiography’, while the quote be found here on page 142.

But hey, Aeria’s known for doing stupid things in the past: banning people without reason, kicking GameSages for posting “confidential” YIM conversations and ‘breaking the market’ with event items, attacking people they don’t like. And every time, we deal with the same bullshit that they give us; “Send in a Ban Appeal or whatever and you’ll be off the hook [for now].”

So for Beni, all they want her to do is simply remove this harmful signature and she will get her account back.

And so Aeria, with your great wisdom and insight, how is she suppose to alter her account’s signature when she can’t access it due to being banned? Loopholes seems to be your specialty nowadays. Attack a player you dislike, and remove them in such a way that they can’t possibly acquire their account. But hey, if that’s how you want to run a company, then so be it.

/NAme

P.S. Hopefully we don’t get a GM Pickle otherwise I might be banned for posting this picture.

Education: A Privilege

Ever since being kicked from the GS team, I’ve had my account locked out from playing Megaten. The reason: the GM’s wanted an ‘apology’ for what I had ‘done’. It wasn’t enough that they had removed me from the team, but trying to exert their power craving by locking out my account was really just a poor excuse for management.

Six days ago, I conversed with BunBun over my situation. After talking for around an hour, I presented all the information to her that I had, and was able to get this statement out of her: GM BunBun (3/20/2011 12:16:42 PM): and you admit that you have made a mistake. that’s the key point i think

After this, she informed me to send in an RT to have the matter looked over again by her. What I was not told however, was the fact that the standard 48 hour RT reply did not apply to my ‘very special case’. Apparently, in matters such as these, the entire GM team needs to be present. Why the GM management decides to be a bureaucracy, and have two people do the job of one, I will never understand. However, in this case it takes 4 people to look over the same sentences, on the same paper, written the exact same way, to come to a conclusion.

Unfortunately, it takes more than 4 people to write up a properly worded reply.

Dear SHARKLEG,

Thank you for contacting us and we appreciate your patience.

We have reviewed the past records and noticed there might have been some misunderstanding.  It was not our intention to ask you to apologize to the public; rather, we just wanted you to accept the fact that what you made mistakes and apologize to us (as in Team MegaTen).  Once we hear a formal apology via RT, we will go ahead and unblock your in-game account.

We hope this clarifies and look forward to hearing back from you.

Thank you,

Team MegaTen

Sorry, but I don’t want to apologize for mistakes ‘that what I’ made. If this is the type of RT that people get when they have actual problems instead of “Where’s my AP!?” then God helps us all when we are in need.

So what do I do when faced with lower minds in higher places? What I should have done from the first place: complain to their boss.

Issue: Other

Payment Method: Other

Transaction/Order Number: To Superman0X

Dear Superman0X,
I was a Megaten Gamesage from May of 2010 until January 27th, 2011. My
reasons for contacting you is because since being kicked from the team, I
have since been blocked out from logging into Megaten, on grounds that the
Megaten GM Team would like an ‘apology’ for my past actions.

As said by GM Greywulf: GM Greywulf (1/28/2011 8:44:24 PM): I would like
a formal apology to be presented before that happens. This apology would be
in regards to the wordpress nonsense, the general attitude that you have
had with the sages, GMs, and players. Also, on how you addressed players in
the forums and shoutbox as of recently (including unnecessary posting such
as that text image)
GM Greywulf (1/28/2011 8:44:55 PM): Also the fact that you were present
in game, and in the YIM chat, where you were invisible to the whole staff
when we wanted to get information about certain things

I find many things wrong with that above statement. Firstly, I was kicked
out of the GS program on the 27th, with the RT #5136961 being my dismissal.
The blog post that he is referring to is this:
https://sharkleg.wordpress.com/2011/01/28/about-fucking-time/ If you notice
the timestamp on that post, it was made on the 28th, a day after me being
kicked. I don’t see the grounds for making me apologize when at that time I
was a normal player with no strings attached to the Megaten GM Team and was
posted on a 3rd party site.

As for the images that I posted in the shoutbox, yes, I knew those were
wrong, which is why the matter was resolved partially on the 13th with GM
Scoville, and then fully resolved on the 19th.

As the YIM chatlog shows: J S (1/19/2011 5:59:58 PM): Oh, and I wasn’t here
for it, but I guess there was some player rant that you made into an image
or something? I read the rant and it was pretty lol but please don’t post
that kind of thing in the SB, we don’t want players thinking the GSes make
fun of them
J S (1/19/2011 6:00:20 PM): You can say what you want in private, but
remember public stuff is stuff EVERYONE sees
nameisinthegame (1/19/2011 6:00:40 PM): Ok.

This matter was resolved on the 19th, so I see in no way shape or form how
it became something to then become a factor in me being kicked eight days
later.

Three days ago, I conversed with GM BunBun as to why I was still blocked;
which, after much talk, she told me to send in an RT to request that the
matter be reviewed. (#5433217)

The reply that I received was shocking, and felt like my case hadn’t been
carefully reviewed like I was promised. There was no misunderstanding on
where this ‘apology’ should be posted, as I was cynically told by GM
Greywulf where to post it.

nameisinthegame (1/28/2011 8:47:03 PM): And to where would this be posted?
Kevin Wallace (1/28/2011 8:48:00 PM): I want this to be sent to the entire
GM Team via Yim

I see no grounds for me making any sort of apology for my actions, when
they were all dealt with before. If I wasn’t doing what they expected of
me, then I see it right in their own management to remove me from the team.
However, I do not see why I would then be required to apologize, when I
know several other GameSages have been removed in the past for ‘bad
behavior’ and have not had to do the same.

Thank you for reading this and I hope it can be resolved soon.

Sincerely,
SHARKLEG

I guess, with the amazing management that the Megaten Team has, they actually look through their evidence and rectify themselves when they are wrong. Their reply is nothing more than an excuse; something hashed together when they don’t want to address the situation. If they wanted me off the team and had just reasons, then kick me. That’s what they did to Bunny; to lndi; to Royce. Why am I being treated any different?

They wanted me to apologize for this blog post. That was posted on the 28th, and I have the official dated RT that I received on the 27th stating that I had been removed. That would make me a normal player at the time, and in no way shape or form a ‘representative of AGE’. And yet, I’m being demanded to apologize for something that was posted on a 3rd party site, as a normal player. Didn’t D4D (a Product Manager who is higher up than a Game Moderator) say here that a blog, “Regarding your personal blog, quite simply this is not Aeria’s property and whether or not you express admiration or dislike for Megaten or any Aeria game is fully your right.”

Further on the page it even states: “I know you have a been a veteran player and long time customer of Megaten and
let me be the first to say we certainly do appreciate your dedication to this game as we do for any player of Megaten.” I’ve played this game for 2 years, and have bought and used AP on the game, so why can’t I receive the same treatment that D4D gave to Royce and have my account unblocked? I think unblocking is further down on the list than being fully banned is.

And now, it’s been 3 days since I sent in that RT to Superman demanding a proper response, and guess what? I haven’t received even an automated response. I guess management requirements don’t apply to everyone, and if you’re not in bed with the GM’s then you can’t even get an educated response. If I wanted to deal with childish responses, then I would have looked into become a Teacher.

inb4 I suddenly get an RT response

How to get MVP in 3 easy steps

1)Have a goal.

Your goal can be anything at all. Helping out newbies, holding raffles, writing guides, or even editing the wiki.

2)Get noticed.

Remember, unless people notice the work that you’re doing, you won’t get credit for anything. So go out there, and make yourself known.

3)Make it seem like you’re actually contributing something.

This step is the hardest part, since it requires the person following these rules to either be doing something that would normally be considered helpful, or make it seem like they’re doing something useful.

The difference: actually doing something that can be beneficial while the other is just a total ego boost whilst doing nothing productive. So now let’s use some examples for reference.

Here you have someone who actually does something helpful. Holding continuous raffles while getting nothing in return is something very selfless. However, you then get those certain people who do nothing more than proclaim their amazingness; ruining the structure of the wiki with uncropped, poorly taken screenshots that purely advertise their character. Now if you notice the actual page that’s up and running right now, you’d see that there is no ego boosting screenshots, and purely information there. However, if you want to get MVP, you must continue to spread your influence and get noticed.

Now, while you go about helping others, it is always good to keep a handy dandy notebook detailing everything you’ve supposedly done. Remember to generalize your contributions, making direct identifications when you really haven’t helped anything won’t get you the award. Also remember  to never go back and edit what you have done if it’s not there anymore, like the Terminology page, which hasn’t been on the wiki since late January. Removing work you’ve done will only show that what you’re adding isn’t actually helpful, and will cost you a few MVP points.

If you’re ever down on work, fear not; simply claim others work as your own, or make small contributions and make them seem like they’re bigger than they actually are. Link to the Magic page on the wiki and say you’ve done work? Great! You’ve done something useful, even though on closer examination it seems that there were only 2 edits, one being a 1 word change, and the other being a total grammar mess that is kindly listed here.

Once you’ve slowed down on your work, it always helps to get attention by baiting people into attacking your thread that lists what you’ve ‘done’. Here are some examples:

  • Also , note to self :- There is more trolls than real (sane) human in here. Speak with caution as they may turn against yourself if you let your mouth slip.
  • Notes to self :-1. Do not put NSFW tag in Shoutbox.
    2. Use pictures when required in the wiki.
    3. Resize the pics to 90% smaller than usual.
    4. Do not open convo even you know you are in the doomed situation
    5. Do not listen to NAme.
  • Note: Never trust NAme at all from now on. Act like he isn’t here at the first place.
  • Hope you people who were happy to read this please DIE FOR ME.

Remember to put these in white font, since it won’t show up until someone actually checks your thread and this will make them want to attack your thread more, therein bumping it and getting more attention for your work!

So if you ever want to get that pretty little MVP award, follow the steps and the examples listed and you too can have that little ego boosting emblem on your profile.

And what should you not do if you want that MVP award? Don’t edit the previous MVP awardee’s wiki ‘contributions’, since they know what they’re doing due to their emblem.

And so now I ask the most well thought out question to you all: Can I has MVP? D:

/NAme

Sidenote: Happy 2 year anniversary to me since starting Megaten~
